Clayton Sorenson, 1925-2014

Clayton Luvern Sorenson, 88, of Austin died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home. He was born Sept. 25, 1925, to Viggo and Annie (Jensen) Sorenson in Freeborn County. He attended Moscow Elementary School, District 29 through eighth grade and went on to Austin High School. After his marriage to Eva Jeanette Bremseth on June 27, 1945, in Austin, they made their home on a farm in Moscow Township where Clayton loved working in the field, milking cows and raising Holstein steers. He danced his shoes off with Eva and followed Mel’s Polka Stars around the area. He loved playing the accordion. Clayton also enjoyed woodworking and playing cards with friends and family. They traveled to Europe twice. A longtime member of Moscow Lutheran Church, Clayton moved to the Cedars in 2011.
Survivors include six children, Steven (Karen) Sorenson of Hayward, Lee (Mary) Sorenson of Collinsville, Ill., Linda (James) Nord of Watertown, Brian (Janice) Sorenson of Austin, Annette (Duane) Schuler of Austin and Dean (Susan) Sorenson of Oakland; 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Corbin of Irving, Texas, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva; a brother, Kenneth and a brother-in-law, Robert.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m Monday at Moscow Lutheran Church in rural Oakland. The Rev. Matt Williams will be officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment is at Fairview Cemetery in rural Oakland.
