Lens & Shutter Club

The Lens & Shutter Photography Club held its March 17 meeting at Rofshus Precision Machine. There were 15 members and two guests in attendance.
February’s contest category was “Night Photography.” Judges were Cheryl Herold and Mitch Pederson. Guest judge was Amanda Buchanan.
Members receiving competition awards were:
Dustin Petersen, first place for “St. Louis City Garden.”
Darcy Sime, second place for “Landscape Arch By Moonlight.”
Mitch Pederson, third place for “Fountain Lake At Night.”
An honorable mention was awarded to Bernadine Peterson. Carol Haroldson won two honorable mentions.
Merit awards were awarded to Darcy Sime, Terri Simonson, Carol Bertelson and Dave Sime.
A selection of March’s competition entries, including winning pictures will be displayed in the lobby of the Farmers State Bank, 1452 W. Main St., Albert Lea, this month. Each month there is a new display of club pictures at the bank.
Members receiving N4C Print awards in February were Darcy Sime, second place; and Rachelle Fliehman and Linda Eisterhold with merit awards for color prints. Results were not yet available for March black and white N4C prints.
There were no awards for N4C digital in February. Darcy Sime won an honorable mention in March for “Yellowstone Fox.”
The program was election of club officers for the 2011-12 club year, with the following slate approved: Dustin Petersen, president; John and Linda Eisterhold, vice presidents; Darcy Sime, secretary; and Barb Rofshus, treasurer.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on April 21 at the Rofshus Precision Machine Building, 1701 Margaretha Ave. Anyone with an interest in photography is welcome to attend. Competition category will be Scenic. The program will include Albert Lea Tribune Editor Tim Engstrom speaking on photojournalism and voting on competition categories for the next club year.
