Woman found lying in yard

HAYWARD — The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office received a report Wednesday morning of a 95-year-old woman who was found lying in a yard in Hayward.

The woman, identified as Gweneth Arline Nelson, was found at 8:28 a.m. at 404 W. Front St. The yard was a few houses from where she was living.

It was unclear how long she had been in the yard, and initial reports indicate she may have suffered from hypothermia. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office detective Chuck Malepsy said there was no indication of foul play.

Her condition this morning was unknown.

 

Semi rolls over

A semi reportedly rolled over near the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and Freeborn County Road 13 at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday. No one was injured.

 

Blaze burns vacant house

An abandoned house was reported on fire at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday at 29688 750th Ave., Clarks Grove.

 

1 arrested for DWI

Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies arrested Chan Banypiny Chagor for second-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 6:42 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Glenview Drive.

 

Dog reportedly bites mail carrier

A mail carrier was reportedly bit by a dog at 1035 Virginia Place Wednesday morning.

 

Thefts reported

Albert Lea police received reports of two thefts from Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave. The thefts took place April 6 and 8.
