After sweeping Owatonna last season in two games decided by three runs, the Albert Lea baseball team lost its season opener Thursday 18-1 against the Huskies.
The game was scheduled to be at Albert Lea, but it was moved to Owatonna because of field conditions.
Parker Boyum scored the Tigers’ only run. Johnathan Fleek and Wyatt Paulsen each posted hits.
Albert Lea coach Joe Sczublewski said the team needs to keep looking forward.
“It kind of snowballed on us,” he said. “We have six sophomores starting, and they’ll have to learn quickly.”
Next, the Tigers will play at 4 p.m. Saturday at Faribault.
