Albert Lea boys’ tennis defeats New Prague

The Albert Lea boys’ tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-1 win Friday at New Prague.

The Tigers swept the doubles matches by a combined score of 36-5.

“All three doubles teams had dominant performances,” said Albert Lea coach Tom Dyrdal. “(Carter) Dahl and (Collin) Jahnke won their third straight match with solid play in the backcourt and net. Our No. 2 and 3 doubles teams also played well.”

In singles action, Taylor Herfindahl and Cole Keyeski won at No. 1 and 2.

“Keyeski and Herfindahl both improved their play from the previous match and had impressive wins,” Dyrdal said.

Matt Carlson posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.

Next, the Tigers will play their first home match of the season at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against Owatonna.
