Against talented competition, the Albert Lea girls’ golf team finished with a score of 418 Thursday at Willingers Golf Club in Northfield.

“This is a tournament of the best girls’ teams in the state,” said Albert Lea coach Shawn Riebe. “It’s a tough course under difficult conditions. We finished 11th out of 12 teams.”

Wayzata won the meet with a score of 318.

Scorers for Albert Lea were Chelsey Battle, 99; Cammy Tewes, 102; Samantha Nielsen, 104; and Madeline Dahl and Sara Rasmussen tied for the final spot with 113.

Sara Burnham of Wayzata was the medalist. She completed the course in 69 strokes.

Next, Albert Lea will take the course at 9 a.m. Monday in a tournament at Owatonna Country Club.
