Rosemary Halstead, 1940-2014

Memorial services for Rosemary Halstead, 74, of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church of Glenville. The Rev. Jim Rushton will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayview/funeral.com.

Rosemary died on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at her home in Albert Lea.

Rosemary Buchanan Halstead was born on Feb. 11, 1940, in Albert Lea, the daughter of William and Doris (Turbett) Buchanan. She grew up in Gordonsville and attended school in Northwood through her junior year. Rosemary graduated from Glenville High School in 1958.

On Aug. 14, 1959, she was united in marriage to James “Big Jim” Halstead at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were the owners of Big Jim’s Wheel Inn in Glenville and Time Out Restaurant in Albert Lea. Rosemary was a member of First Lutheran Church of Glenville. She enjoyed doing Hardanger, crocheting, reading, writing poems, cooking, watching movies and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children Bill (Rita) Halstead of North Mankato, Theresa Halstead of Albert Lea, Loralee (John) Cook of Albert Lea and Gordon (Robin) Halstead of Poway, Calif.; several step-children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Schlede, of Austin; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim.
