On Tuesday, a 32-year-old Albert Lea woman was arrested by authorities for allegedly selling Vicodin.

Through an investigation, a Drug Task Force agent found that she was “doctor shopping” for the Vicodin along with several other scheduled prescriptions. The woman reportedly went as far as Sioux Falls, S.D., to see a doctor to have the Vicodin prescribed to her. The law enforcement report said a reliable informant purchased prescription drugs from her on four different occasions since July 9. She allegedly sold this informant over 50 pills during recent weeks.

Vicodin, along with other pain killers, is what’s known as synthetic heroin. The report added that the sales of these schedule two narcotics are on the rise.

Juvenile arrested

Albert Lea police are still investigating a series of incidents that resulted from the alleged theft of a vehicle by a juvenile who was arrested early today. The juvenile allegedly stole a vehicle on the city’s north side early Wednesday evening. This was followed by a hit-and-run accident on Highway 13 near St. John’s Lutheran Home at 1:43 a.m. today. Then reports came of windows on several vehicles being broken out at the Walmart parking lot, plus the Northbridge Mall area.
