ROCHESTER – A 7-mile stretch of Highway 74 north of Elba has re-opened to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

This portion of Highway 74 was closed on April 1 due to poor road conditions caused by the spring thaw and area waterways rising close to the roadway. The stretch from Beaver (Winona County Road 30) to Weaver (Wabasha County Road 26) is MnDOT’s only gravel road and is within the Whitewater Wildlife Area north of Elba.
