Twins trade Bullock to Braves

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have traded right-handed pitching prospect Billy Bullock to the Atlanta Braves, which allows them to retain Rule 5 draft choice Scott Diamond.

The Twins announced the deal on Monday. They plucked the left-handed Diamond out of the Braves’ system in December. He allowed one earned run on six hits in six innings of work during spring training. But he missed two weeks with a blister on his left thumb and wasn’t deemed ready for the opening day roster.

Because he will start the year at Triple-A Rochester, the Twins had to work out a deal with the Braves for Diamond or put him through waivers before they could retain him.

Twins set spring training attendance record

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have set a new franchise record for attendance at spring training.

The Twins say they have set a 16-game season record with 129,453 fans moving through the turnstiles at Hammond Stadium in Ft. Myers, Fla., this year.

The only time the Twins attracted more fans to spring training fans was 2007, when 129,543 fans attended over 17 games.

The Twins also set a franchise record for highest per-game attendance during the preseason spring training, drawing an average of nearly 8,100 fans.
