Jeane Oslund, 1923-2014

Jeane N. Oslund, 91, of St. Cloud, formerly of Waseca, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014,at St. Benedict’s Senior Community.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict’s Senior Community Chapel in St. Cloud with the Rev. Roger Haug officiating. Burial will take place at Vasa Lutheran Cemetery in Welch at a later date.
Jeane Nina Oslund was born April 12, 1923, in Cortland, N.Y., to Levi Dodge and Vera Maude (Miller) Phillips. Jeane attended school in Kasota, graduating as valedictorian of her class in 1940. She then attended nurses’ training at the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester.
On Sept. 11, 1942, she was united in marriage to Carl Ewald Oslund in Kasota. Jeane worked as a registered nurse for various healthcare organizations for more than 30 years. She was a former member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Grand Forks, N.D., Salem Lutheran of Albert Lea, First Lutheran of Le Sueur and Grace Lutheran of Waseca. Jeane also belonged to the Albert Lea American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.
In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering at church and singing in the choir, reading, sewing, donating her time as a hospice volunteer, playing cards and bingo and entertaining. Above all, Jeane enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Victoria Oslund of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, C. Eric and Katherine Oslund of Independence, Mont., Roberta and Scott Block of St. Cloud and Phillip and Sara Oslund of Ham Lake; grandchildren Jason Oslund, Nissa Rieck, Jennifer Huber, Michael Oslund, Alec Sonsteby, Nicholas Sonsteby, Cassie Block and Alec Block; and six great-grandchildren.
Jeane was preceded in death by her parent; husband, Carl, and brother and sister-in-law Quentin and Glorene Phillips.
