A.L. 7th-graders end on high note

The Albert Lea seventh-grade traveling boys’ basketball team finished their season with a Fairmont Classic championship. The Albert Lea seventh-grade traveling boys’ basketball team ended their season with a well deserved first-place finish in the Fairmont Classic.
Albert Lea played Granada-Huntley-East Chain and St. Peter in pool play with the winner advancing to the championship. Albert Lea beat G-H-EC 39-27 but dropped the second game to St. Peter 33-38. All three teams had one win.
Albert Lea advanced because they held the tie breaker, allowing the least amount of points. The boys faced Madelia in the championship. Albert Lea started slow and finally took the lead 17-14 on a last second 3-point shot at the half. From then on it was all Albert Lea as they went on a 24-6 second-half run, winning the championship 41-20.
