Albert Lea girls clipped by 1 stroke

One stroke was all that stood between the Albert Lea girls’ golf team and Rochester Mayo Monday at Eastwood Golf Course.
The Spartans edged the Tigers 382-383.
“It’s tough to play well and lose a close one,” said Albert Lea coach Shawn Riebe.
Senior duo Chelsey Battle and Mady Dahl led the Tigers by completing the 18-hole course in 92 strokes. Cammy Tewes finished in Albert Lea’s third scoring spot with a 97, and Samantha Nielsen shot a 102 to round out the Tigers’ scoring. Par for the course was 71.
Next, the Tigers will play in a quad hosted by Rochester John Marshall at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Northern Hills Golf Course. Other teams participating are Faribault and Winona.
