The investigation into Albert Lea’s finance director is ongoing and is expected to be completed this week, said City Manager Chad Adams.
Finance Director Terry Berg has been on paid administrative leave since May 16 after Adams said he received an allegation about her from another employee.
He declined to comment on the nature of the investigation — including whether the allegation involved police — but he noted that most of the interviews for the investigation have been completed.
“All parties would like us to have this concluded as soon as possible,” Adams said.
When the investigation is over, he said, he plans to release more information.
Berg started as a finance officer for the city in July of 2012 and was promoted to finance director in January of 2013.
Adams said four people — some of which had been long-term employees — quit under Berg’s management, and the city is looking to hire two new account technicians to replace those who left.
Berg has worked in the public sector since 1985, starting as a city administrator. She has served as finance director for the city of Lake Elmo and Faribault before coming to Albert Lea.
She has helped the city receive certificates of achievement in financial reporting since she has been in her position.
