Gerald Merrill, 1941-2014

Memorial services for Gerald Bradley Merrill of Albert Lea will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Assemblies of God Church, 1540 S. Shore Drive in Albert Lea. The Rev. Lee Freshour will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Gerald died Monday, June 2, 2014, at his home in Albert Lea. He was 72.
Gerald was born Dec. 25, 1941, in Austin, the son of Isaac and Myrtle (Olman) Merrill. He attended public school in Austin.
Gerald had been employed for many years, first as a supervisor with the Rock Island Railroad, and then with the Burlington Northern Railroad. He loved fishing, travel and had a great passion for watching the trains go by.
Gerald is survived by the mother of his children, Maryann Jensen, of Albert Lea; children Bradley Allen Merrill of Clarks Grove, Jerry Bradley (Jayme) Merrill of Albert Lea, Char Merrill of Clarks Grove and Randy Allen Merrill (April Rygh) of Fairmont. Grandchildren include Crystal, Brianna, Amanda, Nikki, Haily, Serena, Brandon, Karrah, Kaitlyn, Kaydence and Kendrick. Great-grandchildren are Zayden and Amadeus. Two sisters survive, Zelma Bolinger of Austin and Marie Gallegos of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd; sister, Karen; grandson, Isaac, and brother-in-law, Mario Gallegos.
