Lillian Sistek, 1922-2014

Lillian Emma Sistek, 91, of Bemidji died Friday, June 6, 2014, at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Funeral services were June 11 at the Cass Lake American Legion in Cass Lake with the Rev. Eric Hucke officiating. Visitation was June 10 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the legion. Interment will be at the Farris Cemetery in Farden Township near Cass Lake.
She was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Iowa to James and Minnie (Belshan) Viktora. She attended school in London, Lyle and Austin.
She was united in marriage to Frank Sistek June 18, 1941, in Owatonna. They farmed in Freeborn County until they moved to Cass Lake in 1960. They farmed until Frank’s death.
In 1997 she moved to Midge Lake Estates and lived there until 2006 when she moved to Cass Lake. When her health started to fail she moved to Touch of Home in Bemidji. Lillian thoroughly enjoyed living on the farm where she was a great gardener of flowers and produce. She loved to can and bake and cook. She would can enough to feed the family for a year. One of her favorite things to do was to walk the hay fields and trap gophers. Time spent with her family was a blessing to her. She loved to keep her grandchildren for the summers.
She is survived by her four children Marcella Warrington (Gary Heiny) of Austin, Janet (Jerry) Svoboda of Albert Lea, Dale Sistek of Martin City, Mont., and Donald Sistek (Ann Mabee) of Roundup, Mont.; five siblings, Gladys Holst of Austin, Melvin Viktora of Wichita, Kan., Donald (Bonnie) Viktora of Albert Lea, Dale (Betty) Viktora of Hollandale and Louise Hahn of Spring Valley; seven grandchildren, Dan Warrington of Bemidji, Derek (Dana) Warrington of Albert Lea, Todd Oakland of London, Trudi Oakland of Los Angeles, Julie (Frank) Soukup of Brainerd, Jessica (Shaun) Dewar of Bremerton, Wash., and Alexi Sistek (Scott Snow) of Snook, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Wesley, David, Kenny and Rosella.
Lillian “Chick-a-Dee” Sistek will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
