Carol Fielding, 1943-2014

Memorial services for Carol P. Fielding of Owatonna will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate.  Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the funeral home.

Carol died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was 71.

She was born Jan. 15, 1943, in Charleston, S.C., the daughter of Cliff and Margaret (Bonnett) Gatlin.

She graduated from high school in South Carolina and then was united in marriage to Rodney A. Fielding  on Jan. 9, 1961, in Georgia. To this union they had one son, Scott, born in Olney, Md., May 30, 1965. During Rodney’s military years they lived in several areas which included Holland, Kansas for 25 years, retiring to Colorado and then moved to Owatonna in 2009 to live closer to their son.

Carol had been a nursing home activity director for many years.

She was extremely creative with crafts and hobbies. She even had her own ceramic shop, which enabled her to help others learn her skills. She was also an avid shopper, and a passionate dog lover.

She will be greatly missed by her family; husband, Rodney; and her mother, Margaret, of Owatonna; son, Scott Fielding, and his wife, Jamie, of Albert Lea; step-grandson, Casey Tabor;  and step-great-grandsons Carter and Robbie Tabor of Albert Lea and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
