Lawrence Becker, 1934-2014

Funeral services for Lawrence Julius Becker, 80, of Albert Lea will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Shawn Stafford will officiate. Burial will be at the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Lawrence died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Lawrence J. Becker was born April 3, 1934, in Alden, the son of Frank and Emma (Bauers) Becker. He attended country school In Mansfield, Glenville and Albert Lea. Lawrence served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years as a special support supervisor.
On March 24, 1955, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Christensen in Mason City. Lawrence also worked for Otis Elevator Co. Lawrence enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping with his family and friends, playing cards with his buddies and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lawrence was a faithful member of Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as finance director for many years. He was also a member of the Eagles and American Legion.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children Larry (Patty) Becker of Grand Rapids, Linda (Ken) Patrick of Omaha and Theresa Becker of Osage, Iowa; grandchildren April, Scott, Joe, Amy, Chris and Steve; great-grandchildren Tyler, Jacob, Caleb, Ethan, Abrey, Hunter, Austin, Dan, Emily, Shelby and Brenna, six sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frank and Fred; and seven sisters, Dorothy, Martha, Laura, Leona, Louise, Francis and Alberta.
