A Level 3 predatory offender living in Albert Lea was convicted of misdemeanor disorderly conduct on Tuesday in Freeborn County District Court.
Paul Arthur Berg, 62, has been in the Freeborn County jail since June 2 after a reported verbal altercation at 1104 Gene Ave. between Berg and an acquaintance.
He was initially charged with fifth-degree assault, and was sentenced to probation for one year.
At the time of the incident, Berg was on probation after being convicted in May 2013 for soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, a felony. His probation lasts three years for that charge.
Berg is facing a probation violation in that case tied to the new charge.
According to police, Berg has a history of sexual contact with girls ages 4 to 5, including fondling. He also has a history of sexual conduct with girls ages 9 to 15, including soliciting victims for sex and indecent exposure in public.
He knew the victims ages 4 to 5 but did not know the victims ages 9 to 15.
Berg is classified as a Level 3 offender because he has the highest likelihood of reoffending.
