Owatonna man dies in Austin crash
AUSTIN — A 24-year-old Owatonna man died Saturday in an early morning crash north of Austin on U.S. Highway 218.
Colton Squires was driving a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer south just north of Minnesota Highway 251 around 5:24 a.m. when it left the road and rolled, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Colton was wearing his seat belt and the car’s airbag deployed, according to the report.
The Austin Fire Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.
Thefts reported
A Playstation3 was reported stolen at 2:53 a.m. Monday at 109 S. Seventh Ave.
The front license plate on a vehicle was reported stolen at 12:57 p.m. Saturday at 200 E. Third St.
An iPad was reported stolen at 4:49 p.m. Saturday from 711 1/2 Fountain St. The iPad and case were estimated at $350.
Albert Lea police received a report at 4:46 p.m. Saturday of a man who reportedly attempted to steal a pair of slippers from Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave. The man ran toward Dollar Tree and was not found.
Counterfeit bill reported at the movies
A counterfeit $20 bill was reported at 10:53 a.m. Monday at Cinema 7, 2630 Bridge Ave.
2 arrested for assault
Albert Lea police arrested Andrea Marie Rhodes, 31, for domestic assault at 9:50 p.m. Monday at 1117 Belmont St.
Albert Lea police arrested Tyler Lee Krogstad, 28, for fifth-degree assault, disorderly conduct and a probation violation at 1:30 a.m. today at 114 N. Eighth Ave., Albert Lea.
Election signs damaged, stolen
Election signs for Freeborn County Sheriff Bob Kindler were reported damaged at 7:10 a.m. Thursday on Bridge Avenue, Richway Drive and Spicer Street. The small signs were estimated at $15 each, and the large signs were estimated at $40.
An election sign for Freeborn County sheriff candidate Dale Glazier was reported stolen from a yard at 1:06 p.m. Sunday from 509 Johnson St.
Vehicle, building spray-painted
A license plate and trunk of a vehicle was reported spray-painted at 11:16 a.m. Thursday at 913 Valley Ave. in Albert Lea.
A building at 611 Sheridan Ave. was reported spray-painted on the north side at 2:36 p.m. Thursday.
Juvenile cited for underage drinking
A juvenile was cited for underage drinking, possession of tobacco and drug paraphernalia at 10:43 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Marshall Street and Ramsey Street.
Fire reported in portable toilet
A portable toilet was reported on fire at 3:24 p.m. Saturday at 910 Frank Hall Drive. The Albert Lea Fire Department responded and put out the blaze.
Injury crash reported
An injury crash was reported at 4:07 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Blake Avenue and Hendrickson Road. No other information was available as of press time.
