Learn canoeing basics at state park

Get the family out on the water during an “I can Paddle” program at Myre Big Island State Park Sunday. Beginners will learn essential skills, from how to launch a canoe safely to the most effective paddling strokes. Canoes, life jackets and paddles are provided.
The program will take place from 10 a.m. to noon. All equipment and instruction is provided for $10. A Minnesota State Parks vehicle permit is also required to enter the park, and can be purchased for $5 a day or $25 year-round. Children must be at least 5 to participate and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
