It’s one of the best times to live in or near Albert Lea. It’s Freeborn County Fair time.
We are proud of our county fair, and we think it is one of the best around. Lots of good people make it all happen.
From the animals to the stage performers and from the carnival rides to the vendors, it’s an all-around good time.
We know most of you, our readers, like to go to the Freeborn County Fair, but we urge anyone who is on the fence or just planning to avoid it altogether to get out there and have a good time. It’s one of those places that after you go you are glad you did.
Show your support for all the hard work done by the kids in FFA and 4-H by seeing their livestock.
Take a child to gaze and wonder at baby farm animals and to ride the rides at the Midway or to enjoy the crashed-up cars of the Sunday demolition derby.
Everyone seems to have a meal they enjoy only during the fair. Perhaps it is a gyro or mini-doughnuts or funnel cake. Mmm. Treat yourself.
Take some time for grown-ups and go see a concert. The fair board does a good job bringing in big names for the Grandstand entertainment.
Most of all, don’t stay sheltered in your house. Get out and be part of this community. Be proud to be from Freeborn County. We surely are.
