Filing for three open school board positions opened Tuesday, and incumbent Jill Marin was the first to file for re-election.
Marin said many good things were going on in the district and said she’d like to see them continue. She said she filed because she wants to see the school board continue to achieve the goals it set.
As for herself, Marin said she has a few goals of her own. She wants to maintain the excellent education that Albert Lea Area Schools provides to its students and wants to keep the schools fiscally responsible.
Marin said she is happy with the way technology has been included in the schools and said she is pleased with how the school has brought all the buildings into alignment with one another, giving students in different buildings close to the same experience.
As a baseline, Marin said the school board’s job is “to do what’s right for kids,” and she hopes to continue that.
Marin is filing for her third four-year term on the school board.
Filings for the three open school board positions will be accepted through 5 p.m. Aug. 12. Affidavits are available at the Brookside Education Center, 211 W. Richway Drive. The filing fee is $2.
