Wa-tan-ye donates to museum

Go Green was the theme for the Albert Lea Wa-tan-ye Service Club program Aug. 3 at the noon dinner meeting a the Americas Best Value Inn.

Sharon Jahnke, August hostess, introduced Virginia Hermanson, who demonstrated what can be done to recycle throw away items into attractive and useful centerpieces, pictures and table favors. Hermanson has been known for her expertise in recycling for many years.

At the conclusion of the program, Jahnke gave each member an enviro- cloth bag with the logo: “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.”

Dorothy Wedge presided over the business session and called for committee reports. Jan Erdahl reported on the Crazy Days fund raisers at the July events at downtown and Northbridge Mall. JoAnn Holstad and Alice Petersen were named delegates to the October Wa-tan-ye convention to be held in October in Clinton, Iowa. Cash donations for the Salvation Army food shelf were collected. Marie Querna would be delivering the donation to the Citadel.

The next meeting will be held Sept. 9.
