AAUW plans next season

The American Association of University Women 2014-15 year will be kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 6 with a brunch at the American Best Value Inn. The menu will be egg bake with cubed ham, watermelon wedges, banana bread, coffee and orange juice, and the cost is $14.

School supplies will be collected for Halverson Elementary School like in the past.

Supplies include: 24 -count crayons, wide ruled spiral notebooks, large pink erasers, glue sticks, clipboards, Elmer’s glue, 10 count markers, boxes of colored pencils, wide ruled loose leaf paper, large boxes of tissues, pocket folders and Clorox wipes.

The program is “Legislative Report” by District 27A Rep. Shannon Savick, DFL-Wells. Savick grew up in Bricelyn and Kiester. She had a 28-year career in technology sales and marketing at Digital Equipment (DRC) in Iowa, Delaware and Massachusetts. She has a Bachelor of Science in math and physics from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a Master of Business Administration from Clark University in Massachusetts. She served two years as the mayor of Wells before running for state representative.
