Thanks for saving Edgewater Cottage

Kudos to the gentleman who decided to save the cottage and its history, and also the many volunteers on the restoration work.

My mother managed the cottage for a couple of summers in the late ’40s. She catered luncheons and parties and was open Sundays also for picnickers to purchase ice cream, candy and pop. The pop, I remember, was from Albert Lea Bottling Works. I think they made grape, orange and strawberry, and the strawberry was outstanding. The caddies from the country club would come over for refreshments also and they really liked playing the jukebox. One song that was favored a lot was “And Her Bathingsuit Never Got Wet.” A little of that went a long way!

Thanks again for the saving, instead of the destruction, of a fun piece of history.
