You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Celebrating Freeborn County Volunteers: During April 10 to 16, National Volunteer Recognition Week, the more than 680 enrolled Freeborn County RSVP volunteers and their stations are saluted! Thanks to you, all of us are living better here. The Albert Lea workshop, “A Time to Be BOLD, Volunteering in a Shifting Environment,” noted increases for the numbers of volunteers who get work time off to volunteer along with more students and groups volunteering together.
Museum Tour Guide: Freeborn County Historical Museum needs seven morning and six afternoon guides for their school tours beginning in early May. Call the museum at 373-8003, sign up for the orientation at 1:30 p.m. April 27 and reserve your museum and historical village tour guide materials. You can learn more about our history while sharing it with the children.
Spring Half-Day Book Readers: Could you help a class or two at Halverson Elementary School to enjoy the first reading of “Apples 1, 2, 3,” this year’s book distributed by United Way? It’s Wednesday afternoon, April 13; just call 373-8670 to sign up with the United Way.
RSVP, sponsored by Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
