The Lake Mills football team moved the ball for 13 first downs, but it wasn’t enough against No. 4 St. Ansgar.
Although the Saints had only nine first downs, they produced 232 total yards of offense more than the Bulldogs in a 49-6 win Friday at St. Ansgar.
“They are very talented and physical,” said Lake Mills coach Bill Byrnes. “Offensively, we did some good things, but defensively it was a struggle. The kids played hard.”
The Saints jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and led 28-6 at halftime. Lake Mills scored on a 1-yard run by Andrew Olson, who had 28 yards on 12 carries. It was the first touchdown St. Ansgar allowed this season. The Saints have outscored their opponents 120-6 through three games.
Granger Kingland led the Bulldogs’ aerial attack by completing 9-of-15 passes for 76 yards.
Next, Lake Mills (0-3 overall) host Central Springs (0-2 overall) at 7 p.m. Friday.
