A man died in a vehicle fire on Steele County Road 45 south of Owatonna late Sunday evening.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity, as of press time.

A news release stated the Steele County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the fire at about 9 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, deputies found a passenger car fully engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, emergency personnel found a single occupant dead in the vehicle.

Based on information from witnesses at the scene, along with evidence obtained from the vehicle and an autopsy, authorities have determined the incident was not a homicide.
