Tenants, know your rights

Landlords have been allowed to take advantage of tenants far too much lately. Landlords are not the only ones with rights during the tenancy, tenants have rights, too. They have the right to privacy.
Landlords can be fined $100 for violations to this right. Mandatory disclosure laws state that landlords must provide in a conspicuous place, the name and address of the landlord or a representative of the landlord. If your landlord is a corporation and they are trying to evict you, they must be represented in court by an attorney.
I have had enough of landlords that do not believe they should be held accountable to the law. I am currently living in Geneva and have just such a landlord. We went to court Sept. 26 for an eviction proceeding and he failed to bring an attorney. The judge was given enough reasonable doubt in the case that he wants to hear testimony on Oct. 1. (Letter sent prior to this date.) Be aware of your rights and do not allow landlords to let you think you have no recourse.
