Choir students throw luau

Albert Lea High School concert choir students are gearing up for their spring trip to Hawaii and will be having a Minnesota Luau  Friday and Saturday at the Hy-Vee parking lot. There will be no roast pig or fresh pineapple, but for $5 there will be hot dogs, chips and pop for sale.  Students will be dressed in tropical Hawaiian wear, hula dancing to Hawaiian music, speaking about the trip and accepting donations. This event is similar to the “fill up the boot” concept for community fireworks.  Students will have a treasure chest that they hope will be overflowing by the end of the event. Hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
