I recently read a letter in this newspaper that attempted to disparage not only Tim Walz but also his staff. It speaks to the desperation among Tea Party Republicans in southern Minnesota; they know Tim is effective, they know Tim is well-liked, they know he listens to the pragmatic majority. Put simply, deep down even the Tea Party knows Tim Walz is one of us.

So the only thing they can do is attack him and his staff in letters to the editor. It’s despicable, it’s desperate, and it represents everything people hate about politics. Tim’s done great work for us — from the farm bill to holding the VA accountable to opposing the government shutdown and donating his pay to charity during it. He will always work for us, and that’s why I’m voting for Tim Walz on Nov. 4.
