Knights win area battle against Rebels

The Alden-Conger volleyball team climbed back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat United South Central for the first time since 2005, said Knights coach Jolene Bute.
Alden-Conger won 3-2 Thursday at Wells.
Game scores were 16-25, 18-25, 25-22, 27-25 and 15-8.
USC’s Anissa Janzig had a game-high 24 kills to go with 11 digs and nine blocks. Alyssa Drescher led the Rebels’ back row with 11 digs, and Kendall Stenzel had a team-high 12 assists.
Liesel Theusch posted a team-high 15 kills for Alden-Conger. Cassie Gilster added 14 kills, 17 digs and an ace serve. Erika Bute led the Knights with 34 assists, and Kasey Knutson had 16 digs.
Next, Alden-Conger (16-6 overall, 5-4 Valley Conference) will host Cleveland at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. USC (5-15-1 overall, 1-4 Gopher Conference) will play at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Madelia.
