Sons of Norway plans Leif Erickson celebration

The Leif Eriksson Banquet and Celebration, sponsored by the Sons of Norway, will be Friday at the Freeborn County Historical Museum, 1031 Bridge Ave. in Albert Lea.  Social hour starts at 6 pm and dinner is at 6:30 p.m.  The menu is salad, baked chicken, baked potato, scalloped corn and dessert.

Cost is $15 per person.  Reservations and payment can be made by calling Paul Anderson at 507-373-2729 or by mailing to 1707 Hale Drive in Albert Lea.

Entertainment following dinner will be “The Life and Music of Theodora Comontan by Dr. and Mrs. Michael Jorgensen of St. Peter. This very entertaining musical program inclues some Norwegian music that was almost lost, including piano and vocal pieces.

Bonne and Michael Jorgenson are proud to present the life andmusic of theNorwegian-American composer Theodora Cormontan. Theodora emigrated from Norway to Minnesota in 1887.  The Jorgensens have researchedand rehearsed in order to share the composer’s story and artistic expression you won’t soon forget. Bonne portrays Theodora, an accomplished pianist. Michael tells Theodora’s story and sings in Danish, Norwegian and English.
