Freitag smeared despite pledge

Vote for Bob Kindler!
After reading sheriff candidate Kurt Freitag’s letter to the editor Oct. 8, I felt sick that he would say the things he said about our sheriff.
I worked at this sheriff’s office over 30 years under three sheriffs and was proud to have done so!
What I think about the things he said:
I can’t speak to the computers working fine or not. All I know is if they were not good enough for the State Patrol and they gave them away, they were probably not going to be good enough or compatible for us either.
The money (tens of thousands?) spent was for the required radio system change for police and fire and a new tower, not a choice.
All pickups are from the vehicle budget, only for vehicles. One was for the new position of emergency management. I don’t believe any deputy went without a new squad because of the truck purchase. Maybe it would not have been an issue if he had a Harley-Davidson motorcycle instead of a snazzy pickup.
I don’t know about repeatedly, but I am pretty sure I heard Freitag, at the forum in the city center, say that he was qualified to handle the budget because he had a credit score of 810 and the budget would take care of itself. Now if I am right, does he really believe a $6 million budget will take care of itself?
I am sure the county board members will be surprised to hear that they only have minimal input to the county budget!
Now really, no money to investigate certain crimes, please tell us what crimes those are, and no money for mandatory training. Mandatory means mandatory, right?
Hundreds of thousands of dollars lost on the ICE contract? They pay what they pay, you don’t tell them. The numbers of detainees held are set because of staffing requirements and space availability.
No transport deputy has ever made the decision on the number of detainees to be accepted in our jail.
Finally, deputy Freitag, you say you will not degrade, smear or attack Sheriff Kindler personally or get involved in the filth yet you have called Bob names in public.
You claim you will make a sheriff’s office we can be proud of; I am already embarrassed by you.
Vote the obvious choice, Kindler for sheriff!
