The Albert Lea Fire Department would like to remind Albert Lea residents that burning of leaves and yard waste is against city code. The weather this time of year can be unpredictable. The embers from burning these items can easily be moved with minimal wind. These embers can ignite nearby property or structures endangering others and putting you at financial risk. If you need to remove leaves or yard waste, contact the city landfill at 373-5013 for proper disposal information. The landfill hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
