ST. PAUL — A St. Paul school district employee has canceled her plans to travel to Sierra Leone to help her Ebola-stricken father.
Mariama Kpaka-Sengita said Thursday that she was worried she might get stuck in Africa.
Kpaka-Sengita got permission to take a leave of absence from her job to go to her native country because of her father’s illness. But the district said she would have to contact her doctor as soon as she returned to the U.S., and that she would not be allowed to go back to work after she returns for 21 days, the incubation period for the virus.
Kpaka-Sengita said she wasn’t planning to care for her father directly, but wanted to make sure he was being treated in a hospital.
