District 27A race’s tone is dismaying

Over $400,000 spent for a $31,000 job? During the past four weeks my family has received 46 separate pieces of political mail regarding the race for state representative for District 27A.
A few of these political postcards were in favor of one of the two major candidates; however, the vast majority were against Peggy Bennett or Shannon Savick. I am really sad about the negative tone of this campaign. My hope is that in future campaigns each candidate will promote their specific plans for the future of Minnesota and not just run each other down.
I am interested to learn how my state representative is going to provide safe roads and bridges for southern Minnesota and how you are going to pay for them.
I am interested to learn how my state representative is going to provide equal education funding for every public school student regardless of zip code. Are you going to provide more revenue for rural Minnesota schools or take revenue away from the metro schools?
I am interested to learn the specific ways we are going to create the world’s best workforce in our schools so that our graduates may find good-paying jobs in Minnesota. How you going to create more taxpayers and less tax users?
I am interested to learn how my state representative is going to support a clean environment. What is your specific plan to protect our air, water and soil?
In the future, I want specific proposals and ideas, not political slogans. Our district deserves a clean and honest campaign and a state representative that will provide specific ideas and proposals.
Unfortunately, the outside political action committees have taken District 27A hostage. My hope is that future campaigns will eliminate the mudslinging and return to a more civil level of campaigning. The residents of District 27A deserve a better campaign than we have experienced this year.
