Letter on guns tried to cloud the issue

A letter to the Albert Lea Tribune from District 27A Rep. Shannon Savick printed last Sunday regarding her stand concerning gun control. In my opinion this was an attempt to deceive voters that she was a friend of gun owners. Her record doesn’t tell the same story. It appears she is all about gun control or doesn’t pay attention to the details of what she says or initiates.
During 2013 legislative session she co-sponsored House File 285, which bans the transfer of firearms such as at gun shows or loaning a firearm to a relative. Her letter to the editor appeared to clutter up some of her actions and disguise her stand on the Second Amendment. Her record on gun-control matters was significant enough to be picked as a threat by the National Rifle Association in this year’s election.
In her letter to the editor dated one might be led to believe she supports citizens of Minnesota and her district. How she stands and votes are two different results. Last session she voted in favor of the universal background check for gun purchases in the Public Safety Committee that went to the floor before being killed. She had a Facebook site that was an attempt to defend some of her positions but was recently shut down from all of the negative feedback she was receiving on gun control and her stand.
Wake up, citizens! Shannon Savick is a follower and not a leader. She is definitely not a friend of the Second Amendment. Wells has one of largest gun shows in the area — her area — and she co-sponsored a bill that bans transfer of firearms.
Regardless of your beliefs, be sure to get out and vote on Tuesday and defend your rights, our rights that were granted to us, the right to keep and bear arms.
