In its second game of the season, the Albert Lea boys’ hockey team continued the search for its first win.
The Tigers lost 4-2 Tuesday at Northfield.
“We worked hard right up until the end of the game,” said Albert Lea coach Roy Nystrom. “We put some pressure on them at times and definitely made some improvement.”
Northfield outshot Albert Lea 37-20.
However, Albert Lea had the upper hand early in the first period after Alex Claassen broke the ice on a pass from Bergen Lundak. The duo struck again in the third period for Claassen’s second score and Lundak’s second assist.
Garrett Matz led the Tigers in the net with 33 saves on 37 shots on goal.
Albert Lea will look to rebound at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday at Faribault. The Falcons (2-0 overall) are coming off a 7-0 home win Tuesday against Austin after a 3-2 win Saturday at Red Wing.
The Tigers’ home opener is next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against Red Wing.
