In its third straight road test, the Albert Lea boys’ hockey team knotched its first win of the season.
The Tigers held Faribault to four goals under their season average to win 4-1 on Tuesday at Faribault Ice Arena.
“The kids played really well, and it was nice to get a win,” said Albert Lea coach Roy Nystrom.
After a scoreless first period, the Tigers lit the lamp twice in the second. Bergen Lundak broke the ice about seven minutes into the period on a pass from Dalton Flatness. Lucas Hacker added another goal about four minutes later.
In the third period, Matt Carlson extended Albert Lea’s advantage to three goals. The assist was credited to Kasey Habana and Ryan Peterson.
Faribault scored its goal late in the final period.
Next, Albert Lea (1-2 overall) will play its home opener at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Red Wing.
