Weekend Planner: The weekend takes aim at 3D archery tournament

The Full Draw Archery Club will host its first 3D archery tournament of the year this weekend.

Archers can come test their archery skills from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Knutson Building, 133 S. Newton Ave. This tournament is open to the public and isn’t restricted to just members of the club.

In order to be eligible for an overall trophy, participants must shoot in all three 3D archery tournaments. The other two tournaments will be Feb. 7 and 8 and March 7 and 8. The cost to participate is $10.

While the 3D tournaments are open to the public, members can use the club’s facilities 24/7.

Memberships are $60 for the whole family at the beginning of the year, according to archery club board member Ryan Green. That rate is prorated depending on when one signs up for a membership. The club also offers hunting leagues and target leagues. The leagues are divided into age groups and there are also men’s and women’s divisions.

Green said starting on Jan. 10, kids can come to the archery range to shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and all equipment will be provided.

Most of the time, however, members must supply their own equipment, and the equipment can fit into any budget, Green said.

“It’s a great family activity,” Green said.
