The Albert Lea Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Southwest Middle School library.

The topic will be the Brown-water Navy during the Civil War. Emphasis will be given to the gunboats and other vessels used on the Mississippi River and other rivers. The Navy and its influence in the Civil War often receives less attention than the aspects of the land operations. There will be time for discussion and questions.

The monthly Civil War Roundtable is free and open to anyone with an interest in the Civil War and the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Questions can be directed to Jim Munyer at 507-213-6152.
