The Lake Mills wrestling team won two of three duals Tuesday at Eagle Grove, according to a press release.
The Bulldogs started with a 57-24 win over Eagle Grove. Lake Mills racked up six pins and three forfeits.
In the second dual of the night, defending state dual champion Clarion-Goldfield-Dows defeated Lake Mills 46-25.
The Cowboys are ranked second this season but will likely be No. 1 in the next set of rankings since they defeated No. 1 Alburnett.
“We wrestled a little better against Clarion than we did against Eagle Grove, but still did not look as good as we did right before break,” Brandenburg said. “If we had been able to win a couple more of the toss- up matches and had won the flip, it would have been much closer.”
The highlight of the dual occurred at 182 pounds as sophomore Slade Sifuentes pinned No. 8 Ryan Anderson.
The Bulldogs ended the evening by defeating North Iowa Conference foe West Hancock 72-12. The squad racked up eight pins and four forfeits in the blowout win.
“We wrestled our best dual of the night against West Hancock,” Brandenburg said. “We were much more aggressive and finished our moves.”
Next, Lake Mills will host a quad against Belmond-Klemme, Newman Catholic and West Bend at 6 p.m. tonight.
