EMMONS — American Legion Post 317 in Emmons is offering up warm, homemade meals a few times a week.

The Post’s Legion Grill offers up burger nights between 5 and 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday with build your own burger specials for $5. Hamburgers are cooked to order and then patrons can pick out their own toppings and condiments.

The grill, at 121 Main St. in Emmons, has steak and shrimp specials between 6 and 8 p.m. on Fridays. Lynette Lair, one of the cooks at the Legion along with Dana Wilker and Angie Franks, said there are also other menu items available both nights, usually in the $5 or $6 price range. Lair said breakfast is also offered between 7 and 10 a.m. on Saturdays.

Lair said daily lunch specials are available from around 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the warmer months between spring and fall at the grill. She said those daily lunch specials are something the Legion likes to do for construction workers and farmers, especially, so that they have a reasonably-priced, warm meal.

“We try to keep something going in the community, for the community,” Lair said.
