A string of four consecutive turnovers to start the second half aided in the sinking of the Albert Lea boys’ basketball team Tuesday at Winona.
The Tigers trailed by three points at halftime but were outscored 43-29 in the second half during a 72-55 loss.
Dedoch Chan led Albert Lea with 31 points and six rebounds.
“He saw a lot of attention (from Winona’s defense),” said Albert Lea coach Lucas Kreuscher. “As the game went on, he was more and more patient and had better shot selection.”
Jack Buendorf added 13 points, four assists and a block.
“Jack Buendorf easily played the best varsity game of his career,” Kreuscher said. “He had some nice attacks in the first half.”
Next, Albert Lea (0-14 overall, 0-11 Big Nine Conference) will host Mankato East at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Cougars (10-5 overall, 8-3 Big Nine Conference) are on a six-game winning streak. Their closest game during that stretch was a 74-72 escape at home against Albert Lea.
