Austin had more babies than A.L.

Austin again had more babies born there than Albert Lea in 2014.

Last year, 776 babies were born at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin; 410 were in Austin and 366 were in Albert Lea.

Of that 776, there were 375 girls and 401 boys.

“Our focus is family-centered care,” Baby Place nurse manager Amanda Forman said. “We are concerned about the physical and emotional well-being of the mother, her infant, significant others, family members, and other support persons. We continue to offer skin-to-skin time following deliveries to capture the uninterrupted time for bonding between mother and baby. This has become a significant patient satisfier.”

Last year, the most popular girl’s name in Albert Lea was Ava or Eva, and the most popular boy’s name was Jaxon. In Austin, the most popular girl’s name was Emma while the most popular boy’s name was Jayden.
