Cannonball Smith has made the “World’s Largest Piggy Bank” for the fair this year to raise funds for a deaf girl’s operation. The piggy bank is near the giant cannon on the midway.
Smith urges all to come and see, take a picture and drop in a coin or two. “If we all give a little it will make a big difference. I’ll try to be there to greet you before and after my shots over the ferris wheel,” he said.
Times are 5 and 8 p.m. daily. All donations go to the “deaf to hearing” operation.
“In a conversation I had with Freeborn County Fair manager, Norm Fredin, he pointed out that with this economy and health insurance hard to get, we are seeing more and more people helping people,” Smith said.
“Here is an opportunity for a bunch of us to give a little to make a huge difference, a modern miracle really, for one of our young people. So, let’s feed the piggy. He loves coins. If we fill this guy, I’ll build a bigger one,” Smith said.
