VFW Auxiliary

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary to Freemond Madson Post 447 met at 7 p.m. April 11 at the Legion Hall. Eunice Hatleli, president, presided.
The short form order of business was conducted.
The charter was draped for auxiliary sisters Genevieve Schneider and Barbara Erickson who went to their heavenly home in March.
Hatleli announced that St. Theodore Catholic Church serving group has donated nine quilts and six lap robes to the VFW Auxiliary for the group to take to the St. Cloud Veteran’s Home. The auxiliary thanks them with grateful hearts.
The auxiliary will arrange to furnish health bars for the May annual Bike-A-Thon.
A reminder that this year is the VFW year to offer poppies to the public in May. The group will need volunteers to man the different locations. Auxiliary poppy chairwoman Betty Jones can be reached at 377-1054.
The election of officers found all returning for 2011-12 year.
The first district Loyalty Day and annual meeting will be April 29-30 and May 1 at Cannon Falls. Main activities at this meeting will be year and reports, award presentations and election and installation of new officers for 2011-12. There will be an auxiliary business meeting at 9:30 a.m. April 30.
Jones served lunch. Lynda Vermedahl won the door prize.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 9 at the Legion Hall. There will be regular meeting installation of officers and the annual memorial service for deceased members.
