Warriors secure No. 1 seed in the postseason

The Waldorf men’s hockey team has earned the No. 1 seed in the inaugural Northern Collegiate Hockey League Tournament, according to a press release.
The tournament is scheduled for Feb. 13 to 15 at Albert Lea City Arena.
Action begins with two first-round games on Friday, Feb. 13. Minnesota-Duluth (6-12) received the No. 3 seed and will play No. 6-seed St. Mary’s University (4-15) at 4 p.m. No. 4-seed Michigan Technological University (6-9) will play No. 5-seed University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (7-12) at 8 p.m. A consolation game is slated for 2 p.m. Feb. 14.
Waldorf (21-7-2) is ranked No. 12 in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association Division II Central Region poll and clinched the conference tournament’s top seed with an 8-4 league record.
The Warriors received a first-round bye and will open the tournament at 4 p.m. Feb. 14 in a semifinal against the lowest-seeded team that advances from opening-round action.
No. 2 seed Robert Morris University (16-13) is ranked No. 15 in the Central Region poll and also earned a first-round bye. The Eagles play in the semifinals at 8 p.m. Feb. 14.
The NCHL championship game is set for 2 p.m. Feb. 15, and the winner will be awarded the Philip E. Schroeder Memorial Trophy, also known as the Hap Cup.
